Meldrum House (Edin.)

Meldrum House was a modernist office block, built in the early 1960s at 15 Drumsheugh Gardens at Lynedoch Place in the West End of Edinburgh’s New Town. It replaced St Andrew’s Free Church and was occupied by HM Revenue and Customs for some years. In 2021-22, Meldrum House was repaired and redeveloped as a Grade 7 hotel of 166 rooms, with two storeys of guest accommodation added to the existing seven-storey structure. The original concrete building, in deteriorated condition, was stripped and reclad with sandstone, metal and brick. The redevelopment was designed by Michael Laird Architects for Mactaggart Family & Partners and the new hotel, named The Resident Edinburgh, was to open in 2024.
